Beaujolais Nouveau Goes on Sale in Japan

Tokyo, Nov. 15 (Jiji Press)--This year's Beaujolais Nouveau wine, produced in the Bourgogne region in eastern France, went on sale in Japan on Thursday.

While the big boom for Beaujolais Nouveau has subsided and imports have been decreasing in recent years, liquor makers are hoping to promote sales by focusing on a rose version, which is increasingly popular as it goes well with various cuisines.

Asahi Breweries Ltd. introduces recipes for roast beef and other dishes on a social networking website.

Suntory Wine International Ltd. released a product with a label featuring a rose illustration to make it eye-catching on social media.

"This year's Beaujolais Nouveau has a soft texture from ripe grapes," an official of Mercian Corp., a unit of Kirin Holdings Co. <2503>, said.
