2025 Osaka Expo Projected to Get 3 M. Visitors from Abroad
Osaka, Nov. 26 (Jiji Press)--About 28 million people are seen visiting the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka, including 3 million visitors from abroad, a private think tank said Monday.
Of the total foreign visitors, 1.4 million are expected to visit Japan primarily for the Osaka Expo, according to the Resona Research Institute, affiliated to Resona Holdings Inc. <8308>.
Given the sharp increase in the number of visitors to Japan in recent years, the percentage of foreign visitors at the Osaka Expo is projected to rise to around 10 pct from around 5 pct at the 2005 Expo in the central prefecture of Aichi.
Meanwhile, the Osaka Expo is seen bringing positive economic effects totaling 1.3 trillion yen in the Kansai region, including Osaka, and 2.2 trillion yen across the country.
The government projects a nationwide effect of 1.9 trillion yen. But the think tank offered the larger estimate given sharp growth in the number of foreign visitors to Kansai.
