ANA to Launch A380 on Narita-Honolulu Route in May 2019
Tokyo, Nov. 28 (Jiji Press)--All Nippon Airways has said it will launch Airbus A380 superjumbo jet in May 2019 on its route connecting Narita International Airport near Tokyo with Honolulu.
With the 520-seat jet, the subsidiary of ANA Holdings Inc. <9202> aims to counter Japan Airlines <9201>, which commands the top market share on the lucrative routes between Japan and Hawaii.
According to an announcement Tuesday, ANA will be the first Japanese airlines to introduce special passenger seats that function like a bed when three or four are used together. The seats will be available in part of the economy-class section.
JAL operates eight round-trip flights per day between Japan and Hawaii, including on the Narita-Honolulu route, compared with three flights run by ANA.
