Japan Display Unveils Smart Bus Stop
Tokyo, Dec. 4 (Jiji Press)--Japan Display Inc. <6740> unveiled on Tuesday a smart bus stop developed together with partners including Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co. <9031>.
The product uses a 32-inch display provided by Japan Display that runs solely on solar power and internal batteries thanks to its extremely low power consumption.
The bus stop does not require power source installation work. It can be used even in the time of a disaster that causes a blackout.
Japan Display plans to install the device at up to 2,000 locations from 2019 in the southwestern Japan city of Kitakyushu, where a demonstration test for the smart bus stop is under way.
Bus schedules and other information shown on the bus stop's liquid crystal display are updated through communications.
