Softbank Mobile Service Disruption May Be Labeled Serious Incident

Tokyo, Dec. 7 (Jiji Press)--Japanese communications minister Masatoshi Ishida suggested Friday that the latest disruption of Softbank Corp.'s mobile phone services is likely to be labeled a "serious incident" under the telecommunications business law.

"The incident was extremely regrettable," Ishida told a press conference.

He said his ministry has told Softbank to investigate the cause of the service disruption and take preventive steps.

"By closely examining the report (to be submitted by Softbank), we'll study necessary measures including administrative guidance," Ishida said.

It was the third time this year for Softbank's services to be hit by large-scale disruption.
