Yamaha Motor to Scrap 4-Wheel Vehicle Project
Tokyo, Dec. 11 (Jiji Press)--Yamaha Motor Co. <7272> said Tuesday that it has decided to scrap its project to mass produce a compact four-wheel vehicle by 2020.
"Investment in the project is too big to recover," Yamaha Motor President Yoshihiro Hidaka told a news conference.
Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor will continue to develop a new mobility system, according to the company's 2019-2021 management plan released the same day.
In 2013, the motorcycle maker announced a plan to enter the compact four-wheeler market and unveiled a concept car.
