Tokyo Court OKs Release on Bail of Key Aide to Ghosn
Tokyo, Dec. 25 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo District Court approved Tuesday the release on bail of former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Representative Director Greg Kelly, who, along with Carlos Ghosn, former chairman of the automaker, was indicted earlier this month on charges of financial misconduct.
Kelly, who was a key aide to Ghosn, posted the 70-million-yen bail the same day, while prosecutors filed an appeal against the court decision.
Ghosn will be kept in detention at least until Jan. 1, after he was served a fresh arrest warrant on Friday for alleged aggravated breach of trust in violation of Japan's company law.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office could ask the court to extend Ghosn's detention for up to 10 days.
The two Nissan executives were arrested on Nov. 19 and served fresh warrants on Dec. 10 for alleged nondisclosure of part of Ghosn's executive compensation in Nissan's financial statements for fiscal 2010-2014 and for fiscal 2015-2017, respectively.
