Nissan Director Shiga to Step Down in June

Tokyo, Jan. 9 (Jiji Press)--Nissan Motor Co. <7201> director Toshiyuki Shiga, who had long assisted Carlos Ghosn in running the company, is expected to step down at a shareholder meeting in June, informed sources said Tuesday.

Shiga became chief operating officer at the Japanese automaker in April 2005 and served as vice chairman between November 2013 and June 2017.

He also played a role in arranging the 1999 rescue of Nissan from collapse by Renault SA of France. His term as a Nissan board member ends in June.

Outside of the automaker, he serves as chairman and chief executive officer of INCJ Ltd., a Japanese government-backed investment fund.
