Nissan Unveils Future Connected-Car Technology

Las Vegas, Jan. 8 (Jiji Press)--Nissan Motor Co. <7201> is showcasing a future vehicle technology that creates what it claims to be the ultimate connected-car experience, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The technology merges information from sensors outside and inside the vehicle, enabling the system not only to track the immediate surroundings but also to anticipate what is ahead and show what is behind a building or around the corner, the Japanese automaker said.

One of the features of the Invisible-to-Visible, or I2V, technology allows drivers to get driving instructions from a professional driver appearing as a projected avatar inside the vehicle.

Nissan is a CES exhibitor for the third straight year.

Meanwhile, Sony Corp. <6758> is showing off two large 8K ultrahigh definition television models that will be released in the United States as early as this year.
