INTERVIEW: Hard Rock Eyeing Casino-Featuring Integrated Resort in Hokkaido

Sapporo, Jan. 9 (Jiji Press)--Edward Tracy, chief executive officer of Hard Rock Japan LLC, expressed on Wednesday an eagerness to launch an integrated resort including a casino in the city of Tomakomai in the northernmost Japan prefecture of Hokkaido.

In an interview with Jiji Press in Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, he cited various advantages of Tomakomai, saying that the city is close from New Chitose Airport and that there is an expressway network.

Tracy said that the project will certainly create about 3,500 to 5,000 jobs.

Hard Rock Japan is an affiliate of Hard Rock International of the United States, which operates hotels, casinos and restaurants in over 70 countries.

Later this month, the company will set up an office with a staff of about 10 in Tomakomai to collect related information.
