Nissan Executive Munoz Resigns

New York, Jan. 11 (Jiji Press)--Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chief Performance Officer Jose Munoz, considered a close aide to former Chairman Carlos Ghosn, has resigned, company officials said Friday.

Munoz oversaw Nissan's North America operations between 2014 and 2018, helping boost the Japanese automaker's U.S. sales, according to the company.

In 2016, Munoz was appointed to CPO, a position responsible for Nissan's overall results and the implementation of strategies to ensure efficiency and transparency in its global operations, according to the automaker.

Ghosn has been indicted by Japanese prosecutors on charges of financial misconduct.
