Kyocera to Acquire Assets from U.S. Medical Device Firm

Kyoto, Jan. 16 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Kyocera Corp. <6971> said Wednesday that it will acquire assets related to artificial joint and spinal products from U.S. medical equipment maker Renovis Surgical Technologies Inc. for some 10 billion yen.

The acquisition will be completed in March.

Renovis, founded in 2009, is a market leader in three-dimensional printed implants, according to Kyocera.

With the acquisition, Kyocera aims to boost its artificial joint business in the United States by utilizing Renovis' products, sales network, technology and other resources.
