Tokyo, Jan. 16 (Jiji Press)--Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd. <2587> said Wednesday that it will raise the shipment prices for some of its bottled non-alcoholic beverages, including oolong tea and mineral water, on May 1.

The company will implement its first markup on beverages in 21 years due to higher distribution and material costs for plastic bottles.

Specifically, the prices for some 30 products in 1.2- to 2.0-liter bottles will be raised by about 20 yen while those for products in 500-milliliter bottles and canned drinks will be left intact.

As a result, the suggested retail price will increase from 356 yen to 378 yen for the 2-liter "Oolong Tea" and "Green Tea Iyemon" and from 248 yen to 270 yen for the 2.0-liter "Tennensui" mineral water.

Earlier this month, Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc., the country's leading non-alcoholic beverage maker, announced that it would raise the prices of Coca-Cola and other drinks in April.
