Komiya to Head Tokio Marine Holdings
Tokyo, Jan. 21 (Jiji Press)--Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. <8766> said Monday it has appointed Senior Managing Director Satoru Komiya, 58, as the next president of the major Japanese insurance company.
He will succeed Tsuyoshi Nagano, 66, who will step aside to the post of chairman without the right to represent the company.
Komiya will take office after a general meeting of Tokio Marine Holdings shareholders in late June. The appointment is part of moves to rejuvenate the management of the insurance group. Nagano has been in the post of president at the holding company for about six years.
Shuzo Sumi, 71-year-old chairman of Tokio Marine Holdings, will retire, the company said.
Shinichi Hirose, 59, senior managing executive officer at the holding company, will become president of core unit Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., on April 1 to succeed Toshifumi Kitazawa, 65, who is set to become vice chairman of the subsidiary.
