Sony to Move European Base from Britain to Netherlands
London, Jan. 22 (Jiji Press)--Sony Corp. <6758> will move its European headquarters from Britain to the Netherlands on March 29, the planned date for Britain's exit from the European Union, officials said Tuesday.
Among other Japanese companies, Panasonic Corp. <6752> has already transferred its European headquarters to the Netherlands from Britain.
Sony's European head office is in a London suburb. The electronics maker will move the registered headquarters to an Amsterdam suburb to continue the group's operations on the European continent after Brexit.
But Sony will keep the substantial European headquarters functions in Britain, and there will be no change in personnel distribution at the office, according to the officials.
Britain's parliament is scheduled to vote on an amended Brexit deal on Jan. 29 after rejecting last week the original deal submitted by Prime Minister Theresa May.
