SEC Investigating Nissan on Executive Pay Disclosure

Tokyo, Jan. 28 (Jiji Press)--The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating Nissan Motor Co. <7201> on whether its executive pay disclosure has been accurate, company officials said Monday.

The investigation apparently covers the remuneration of Nissan executives in the United States, people familiar with the matter said.

The Japanese automaker has received an inquiry from the SEC and is fully cooperating, a Nissan public relations official said. The official did not discuss details.

Former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn has been indicted in Tokyo on charges of understating his executive pay in the company's financial reports. He has also been charged with transferring his private losses to Nissan.
