Meiji to Raise Milk, Yogurt Prices
Tokyo, Feb. 4 (Jiji Press)--Japanese food maker Meiji Co. said Monday that it will raise prices for 111 items for households, including milk and yogurt, for shipments effective April 1.
The price increase by the Meiji Holdings Co. <2269> unit, its first since April 2015, comes as prices at which it buys raw milk from dairy farmers are set to increase in April.
Meiji will raise milk shipment prices by 1.5-3.5 pct and suggested retail prices for yogurt and beverages by 1.4-4.7 pct.
The shop price of a 900-milliliter carton of Meiji Oishii Gyunyu milk, currently at around 240-270 yen, will increase by some 4-10 yen.
The suggested retail price of 400 grams of Meiji Bulgaria Yogurt LB81 will increase to 280 yen from 270 yen, the company said.
