Toyota's Net Profit Plunges 29.3 Pct in April-Dec.
Tokyo, Feb. 6 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Wednesday that its group net profit in April-December last year fell 29.3 pct from a year before to 1,423,307 million yen.
The leading Japanese automaker's group sales in the first three quarters of fiscal 2018 totaled 22,475,548 million yen, up 3.1 pct. Operating profit grew 9.5 pct to 1,937,974 million yen.
For the whole of the fiscal year through March, Toyota revised down its net profit estimate to 1.87 trillion yen from 2.3 trillion yen.
In calendar 2018, Toyota's parent-only domestic vehicle sales fell for the first time in three years, while sales in the United States leveled off.
Sales grew in China, where models including its mainstay Corolla sedan are selling well. Toyota also performed well in Europe, on the back of the popularity of hybrid vehicles.
