Honda N-Box Top-Selling Car for 17th Straight Month

Tokyo, Feb. 6 (Jiji Press)--Honda Motor Co.'s <7267> N-Box minivehicle topped Japan's new vehicle sales rankings for the 17th straight month in January, industry data showed Wednesday.

Sales of the N-Box totaled 19,192 units, down 0.6 pct from a year before.

Six of the top 10 models were minivehicles, which have engine displacements of up to 660 cc, reflecting solid demand from families raising children.

Among minivehicle brands, Suzuki Motor Corp.'s <7269> Spacia came in second, with sales of 14,350 units. Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> Dayz placed third, with sales of 13,541 units.

Other than minivehicles, environmentally friendly vehicles fared well. Nissan's Note subcompact and Toyota Motor Corp.'s <7203> Aqua hybrid compact ranked fifth and ninth, with sales of 11,448 units and 8,875 units, respectively.
