Tokyo, Feb. 14 (Jiji Press)--New Renault SA Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard arrived in Japan on Thursday afternoon, for talks with Nissan Motor Co. <7201> executives including President Hiroto Saikawa.

This is Senard's first visit to the Asian country since he assumed the top post at the French automaker in late January to replace Carlos Ghosn, who has been indicated in Japan for alleged financial misconduct.

Speaking to reporters upon arriving at Tokyo International Airport at Haneda, Senard expressed readiness to talk about the future of the Nissan-Renault alliance with Saikawa and other officials of the Japanese automaker. He noted that the alliance is entering a crucial phase.

The Nissan and Renault leaders will seek to improve the two companies' partnership, which has soured over the Ghosn scandal.

Senard said he expects that his meeting with the Nissan side will be held in a good atmosphere.
