Visiting Renault Chairman Holds Talks with Nissan Execs
Yokohama, Feb. 15 (Jiji Press)--Visiting Renault SA Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard held talks with executives of Nissan Motor Co. <7201> at the Japanese automaker's headquarters in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, on Friday.
Nissan executives and Senard are believed to have reaffirmed the importance of the Japanese-French automotive alliance, sources familiar with the situation said.
Senard became Renault chairman last month to succeed Carlos Ghosn, former Nissan chairman, who has been indicted in Japan for financial misconduct.
He arrived in Japan on Thursday and held talks within the day at a Tokyo hotel with Nissan President and Chief Executive Officer Hiroto Saikawa and Osamu Masuko, chief executive officer of Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corp. <7211>, also a member of the alliance.
They exchanged opinions on how to strengthen the three-way alliance, the sources said.
