Washington, Feb. 15 (Jiji Press)--U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Friday that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

"Prime Minister Abe of Japan gave me the most beautiful copy of a letter that he sent to the people who give out a thing called the Nobel Prize," Trump said at a press conference at the White House.

"He said, 'I have nominated you...' or 'Respectfully, on behalf of Japan, I am asking them to give you the Nobel Peace Prize,'" Trump said.

"It's the most beautiful...five-page letter," the U.S. president said.

"I'll probably never get it, but that's okay," he said of the prize.
