At the scene, Shinya Omori, the 46-year-old head of the facility, was found with a knife in his chest. He was later confirmed dead in hospital, according to the Metropolitan Police Department and other sources.

The attacker, Hitoshi Tahara, 22, was arrested on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder. The police will investigate him for murder charges.
