Tokyo, Feb. 28 (Jiji Press)--Subaru Corp. <7270> said Thursday that it is recalling 306,728 cars in Japan for free repairs due to a problem with the brake lamp switch.
The recall will affect Impreza and Forester cars produced between September 2008 and March 2017.
A total of 1,399 cases related to the problem have been reported so far, according to the transport ministry.
Subaru said that it took a long time to determine the cause of the problem, according to the ministry.
Due to the design problem with the switch, there have been cases in which lamps did not turn on when drivers hit the brake pedal. The problem could make it difficult to start the engine, according to the ministry.
