Anime-Themed SDF Recruitment Poster Removed after Criticism
Otsu, Shiga Pref., March 2 (Jiji Press)--The Self-Defense Forces' regional cooperation headquarters in the central Japan prefecture of Shiga has removed a recruitment poster that came under fire for featuring female anime characters wearing revealing uniforms.
Because what appeared to be underwear was exposed, some people took it as a sexual harassment poster and made complaints.
On Friday afternoon, copies of the poster were removed from branch offices in the prefecture and the image on its website was deleted, the SDF's Shiga Provincial Cooperation Office in the city of Otsu said.
"After receiving criticism that the poster had inappropriate content, we moved in line with the purpose of making recruitment posters, which is attracting public interest in jobs in the SDF," said an official of the office.
