Honda N-Box Top-Selling Car for 18th Consecutive Month

Tokyo, March 6 (Jiji Press)--Honda Motor Co.'s <7267> N-Box minivehicle topped Japan's new vehicle sales rankings for the 18th straight month in February, industry data showed Wednesday.

The N-Box, however, saw its sales fall 7.3 pct from a year before to 20,391 units.

Six of the top 10 models were minivehicles with engine displacements of up to 660 cc.

Of the six, Suzuki Motor Corp.'s <7269> Spacia ranked second with sales of 15,825 units, up 16.2 pct, followed by Daihatsu Motor Co.'s Tanto with sales of 15,161 units, up 17.4 pct. Their sales were pushed up by brisk demand for new model or special edition cars.

Other than minivehicles, Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> Note came fifth with sales of 12,910 units, down 6.2 pct, and Toyota Motor Corp.'s <7203> Prius hybrid seventh with sales of 11,867 units, up. 3.1 pct.
