Carlos Ghosn Released on Bail
Tokyo, March 6 (Jiji Press)--Former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn was released from the Tokyo Detention House on Wednesday, after 108 days in detention since his arrest for alleged financial misconduct.
The release came after Ghosn, 64, put up one billion yen in bail earlier in the day.
Ghosn has consistently proclaimed his innocence. It is unusual for an accused person to be released from detention before the start of a pretrial procedure to sort out points of dispute.
He may hold a press conference in the days to come, an event likely to draw international attention following his long detention period.
When Ghosn, one of the world's most successful and charismatic auto executives, appeared from custody at the detention house, he was apparently in disguise, wearing a work uniform and safety vest with glasses and a white face mask.
