Parents Indicted in Fatal Daughter Abuse Case in Chiba Pref.
Chiba, March 6 (Jiji Press)--Public prosecutors indicted Wednesday a man, 41, on charges including inflicting bodily injuries resulting in the death of his 10-year-old daughter at their home in the city of Noda, Chiba Prefecture, eastern Japan, in January.
The Chiba District Public Prosecutors Office also indicted the 32-year-old mother of Mia Kurihara, the deceased girl, on the charge of assisting her husband injuring the daughter, a fourth-grader at an elementary school in the city.
In the high-profile abuse case, the prosecutors arrested the father, Yuichiro, on Jan. 25 and served a fresh arrest warrant on him on Feb. 14, on charges of inflicting injuries on the daughter.
But the prosecutors office changed the charges against him in the indictment, believing that it can prove a causal link between his violence and the girl's death.
The mother, Nagisa, was arrested on Feb. 4 on suspicion of injuring the girl and was served another arrest warrant on the same charge on Feb. 25. Her charges were also changed.
