47 Pct See March 2011 Disaster Reconstruction Slow

Tokyo, March 11 (Jiji Press)--A Jiji Press opinion poll has shown that 47.6 pct of the respondents see little or no progress in the reconstruction after the March 2011 powerful earthquake and tsunami.

The survey also found that 72.9 pct are opposed to exports of nuclear power plants, promoted by the Japanese government.

According to the survey, 2.2 pct said they very much see progress in the reconstruction of areas devastated by the disasters that mainly hit northeastern Japan on March 11, 2011, and 42.8 pct believe progress has been made to a certain extent, with the percentages adding up to 45.0 pct.

On the other hand, 3.8 pct saw no progress at all and 43.8 pct claimed that they do not see much progress.

The survey showed that 74.8 pct see little or no progress in the reconstruction of areas damaged by the nuclear accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.'s <9501> Fukushima No. 1 plant, which followed the earthquake and tsunami.
