Special Panel on Nissan Reform to Meet Press on March 27
Tokyo, March 17 (Jiji Press)--A special panel discussing measures to reform Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> governance system in the wake of financial misconduct by its former boss, Carlos Ghosn, decided on Sunday to hold a press conference about its final report on March 27.
The seven-member panel made the decision at its fourth meeting on Sunday.
The report is expected to include such measures as increasing outside directors on the Nissan board to beef up supervision of the management of the major Japanese automaker, informed sources said.
The panel, formed after the revelation of the Ghosn scandal, believes that the concentration of power into the hands of the former Nissan chairman has led to his wrongdoing.
It is discussing, among other things, a proposal that the posts of company chairman and chair of the board be held by different persons, according to the sources. Ghosn had served in both posts.
