Tokyo, March 23 (Jiji Press)--Nomura Holdings Inc. <8604> and Carlyle Group on Saturday announced the success of their 57-billion-yen tender offer for Japanese beer maker Orion Breweries Ltd.

The Japanese brokerage giant and the U.S. investment group acquired 92 pct of the shares in Orion Breweries, based in Urasoe, Okinawa Prefecture, southwestern Japan, through joint company Ocean Holdings Co. before the offer period ended Friday.

The acquired shares included those bought from the founding family, according to the announcement.

The pair aims to buy all remaining shares in Orion Breweries through the tender offer, which opened Jan. 24.

Nomura and Carlyle plan to send officials to Orion Breweries to rebuild its mainline beer business and strengthen overseas operations.
