Nagoya, March 28 (Jiji Press)--The Aichi prefectural government said Thursday that another swine fever case has been confirmed in Tahara in the central Japan prefecture.
The prefectural government will slaughter some 1,600 pigs kept at the farm where the latest case was confirmed.
Aichi had swine fever cases in Tahara and Toyota in February. Just on Wednesday, the prefecture said a new case happened in Seto, also Aichi.
Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura called for "all-out efforts" to protect the livestock industry, at an emergency meeting Thursday to deal with the infectious animal disease.
The prefectural government inspected the farm after receiving a report that pigs there were showing symptoms such as fever and poor appetite.
