Tokyo, April 1 (Jiji Press)--Leading Japanese cosmetics maker Shiseido Co. <4911> said Monday it has concluded a business tie-up agreement with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

Under the deal, signed on Sunday, they will work together for the development and sales of products mainly targeted at the Chinese market.

Shiseido, for its part, aims to capitalize on Alibaba's abundant information about younger generations, such as product preferences, in China to expand its customer base.

In the first-round joint project, Shiseido will sell Aquair-brand shampoos and hair conditioners it has already developed on data from about 700 million Alibaba users exclusively in the Tmall cyber market from September.

The two companies plan to move forward to the joint development of cosmetics, Shiseido said.
