In Video, Ghosn Claims Innocence over All Charges
Tokyo, April 9 (Jiji Press)--Former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn claimed he is innocent of any financial improprieties in a video shown at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.
In the video, which was recorded while he was on bail, Ghosn insisted that behind his series of arrests was "a plot" while stopping short of mentioning anything about charges he faces.
Ghosn was released on bail on March 6, 108 days after his first arrest in November on charges of underreporting his executive pay at the Japanese automaker.
On Wednesday, Ghosn tweeted that he would meet the press on April 11. But the following day he was arrested for a fourth time by Tokyo prosecutors for suspected redirecting of Nissan funds sent to an Oman dealership to a company under his control.
In the video, shown by his lawyer Junichiro Hironaka at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan, Ghosn said, "I'm innocent of all the charges that have been brought against me."
