Tokyo, April 15 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese mobile phone carrier NTT Docomo Inc. <9437> on Monday announced new subscription plans, which will reduce communications fees by up to 40 pct from the current levels.

Under the two plans, to be introduced in June, mobile phone purchase costs and communications fees will be separated.

One of them will allow high-speed data communications of up to 30 gigabytes at a fixed monthly fee of 5,980 yen, and the other will charge users between 1,980 yen and 4,980 yen a month depending on data traffic.

Some 70 pct of all contracts at NTT Docomo are those for family discount plans with three or more communication lines.

For the latter of the two new plans, the monthly fee will be 1,980 yen, some 40 pct lower than the fee under a similar existing plan provided by the firm, if a user signs up for data communications of up to 1GB for three or more lines.
