Tokyo, April 17 (Jiji Press)--Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Co. <7201> said on Wednesday that it will release 50th anniversary commemorative editions of its GT-R and Z sports cars this summer.

The two iconic Nissan vehicles, renowned for their performances in car races, have strong fan bases in and outside Japan.

The commemorative editions will feature body color schemes reminiscent of past designs, and include logos marking the cars' golden anniversary in the interior and exterior.

Since the introduction of its first model in February 1969, the GT-R has built an ardent following as a leading sports car in Japan. The Z, first released in October the same year, is known as the Fairlady Z in Japan for its elegant, streamlined exterior.

The two cars have survived pressure from tougher emissions regulations and higher oil prices.
