Naha, Okinawa Pref., April 21 (Jiji Press)--Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> and government-backed Cool Japan Fund Inc. have set up a joint venture to produce and distribute educational content, the three entities said Sunday.

The joint company, formed in Naha, the capital of the southernmost Japan prefecture of Okinawa, plans to start operating in October.

Taking advantage of plenty of know-how held by Yoshimoto Kogyo, a major entertainment company, the new firm will create content for children, such as apps and videos allowing users to learn while having fun.

Such content will be distributed to smartphones and tablets through the NTT group's information and communications technology.

The content will help children learn tips of daily life and logical thinking naturally, according to the firms. Materials used as content will be translated into foreign languages and exported.
