Ministop May Revise Division of Profits with Franchisees

Economy

Tokyo, April 23 (Jiji Press)--Convenience store operator Ministop Co. <9946> said Tuesday it will look into revising the division of profits with its franchisees.

The details of the plan will be worked out at a later date.

"Our responses to changes in the social climate, such as our relationships with franchisees and labor issues, have not been adequate and we are sincerely reflecting on the matter," the company said.

Ministop said it will reform the franchise business itself, including how franchisees and the headquarters divide profits.

The industry ministry asked major convenience store operators this month to draw up action plans to support franchise stores and deal with labor shortages.
