Kyoto, April 25 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese game maker Nintendo Co. <7974> is considering selling the Nintendo Switch video game console in China, officials said Thursday.

The company, which suffered poor sales of the Nintendo DS and 3DS portable consoles in the past in China, is hoping to have another shot at the world's biggest game market in cooperation with major Chinese information technology giant Tencent Holdings Ltd.

The Chinese market is "big and attractive," Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa told a press conference.

Tencent has applied to a Chinese government organization for screening needed to sell the Switch in China, according to Furukawa.

A tie-up with the Chinese firm would boost Nintendo's business opportunities in China, Furukawa said.
