Court OKs Release of Carlos Ghosn on Extra Bail
Tokyo, April 25 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo District Court decided Thursday to allow former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn to be released on additional 500-million-yen bail.
The additional bail was posted immediately. The prosecution filed an objection to the court decision.
New bail conditions were added to prevent Ghosn from destroying evidence or fleeing overseas, according to informed sources.
On April 4, Ghosn was rearrested on additional charges of aggravated breach of trust for allegedly routing Nissan funds to himself via a sales agent in Oman.
Nearly a month before that, he was freed on one-billion-yen bail after his 108-day detention from last November.
