Reiwa-Related Products Hitting Shelves in Japan
Tokyo, April 30 (Jiji Press)--Japanese makers of food, stationery and other goods are rushing to release products featuring Reiwa, the name of the country's new era, as they look to boost sales on this celebratory occasion.
Variety store chain Loft Co. has set up special sales sections at two of its Tokyo outlets for products printed with the name of the new era, such as a document folder and a titanium-made tumbler.
On April 22, Nestle Japan Ltd. released KitKat chocolates with a package design celebrating the new era.
Nissin Food Products Co. will release a special package design for its Cup Noodles on Wednesday. The cup will feature the two kanji characters for Reiwa in gold and a face of a daruma doll, a good luck charm in Japan.
Koike-Ya Inc. <2226> will release limited-edition potato chips sprinkled with gold leaf to commemorate the special occasion, through Lawson Inc. <2651> convenience stores.
