Tokyo, May 7 (Jiji Press)--Ebara Corp. <6361> said on Tuesday that a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary has started operations at a new factory in Bangalore, southern India, producing small and midsize steam turbines.

The move by the Japanese company is designed to meet growing turbine demand in petrochemical, electricity and other sectors mainly in Asia.

The amount of investment in the new factory was undisclosed.

The new plant is located adjacent to a turbine maintenance factory that the U.S. unit, Elliot Group, opened in 2015.
