Toyota's Annual Group Sales Top 30 T. Yen for First Time

Tokyo, May 8 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Wednesday that its group sales in fiscal 2018 rose 2.9 pct from the previous year to 30,225,681 million yen, topping 30 trillion yen for the first time.

In the year to March, the leading Japanese automaker logged an operating profit of 2,467,545 million yen, up 2.8 pct

The Toyota group's global vehicle sales, including by subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd. <7205>, stood at a record 10.6 million units. Sales were slow in Japan and the United States, but were robust in China and Europe.

Meanwhile, Toyota's group net profit fell 24.5 pct to 1,882,873 million yen due to appraisal losses on shareholdings.

For fiscal 2019, Toyota expects to log a consolidated net profit of 2.25 trillion yen, up 19.5 pct year on year, on sales of 30 trillion yen, down 0.7 pct. Operating profit is forecast at 2.55 trillion yen, up 3.3 pct.
