Tokyo, May 10 (Jiji Press)--The number of companies in Japan that use Reiwa, the country's new era name, in their corporate names has topped 100, according to a research firm.

The number of such companies reached 109 as of Thursday afternoon, Tokyo Shoko Research Ltd. said.

Of them, 77 were newly founded, and the remaining 32 changed their names to include the era name.

As of April 1, when the new era name was announced, there were no companies using the name Reiwa.

Moves by firms to adopt the name Reiwa are expected to continue for the time being, Tokyo Shoko Research said.
