Mitsubishi Motors Chief Masuko to Leave Post of CEO

Tokyo, May 17 (Jiji Press)--Mitsubishi Motors Corp. <7211> said Friday that its chief executive officer, Osamu Masuko, will leave the post after the Japanese automaker's general shareholders meeting on June 21.
Masuko, 70, will stay as chairman of Mitsubishi Motors.
The post of CEO will go to Takao Kato, 57, president of an Indonesian subsidiary of the company.
Masuko, who has been CEO since 2014, will step down from the post in line with an extensive overhaul of the automaker's governance system.
Originally from major trader Mitsubishi Corp. <8058>, Masuko became managing director of Mitsubishi Motors in 2004 and its president in 2005 to help rebuild the struggling company.
