4 China Coast Guard Ships Enter Japanese Waters off Senkakus
Naha, Okinawa Pref., May 20 (Jiji Press)--Four Chinese coast guard ships entered Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture on Monday.
This was the first intrusion into Japanese waters by any Chinese official ship since May 9 and the 14th this year.
According to the Japan Coast Guard's 11th regional headquarters in the prefectural capital of Naha, the Chinese ships--the Haijing 1501, the Haijing 2305, the Haijing 2308 and the Haijing 33115--entered waters north-northeast of Kubajima Island in the Senkakus between 10 a.m. (2 a.m. GMT) and 10:15 a.m.
The ships were spotted leaving Japanese waters west-northwest of the same island in the Japanese-administered East China Sea islet group, also claimed by China, between 11:35 a.m. and 11:55 a.m., the regional headquarters said.
