Tokyo DisneySea Expansion Area Named Fantasy Springs
Urayasu, Chiba Pref., May 21 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo DisneySea's new themed area slated to open in fiscal 2022 has been named Fantasy Springs, the operator of the Japanese amusement park said Tuesday.
Billed as "a magical spring that leads to a world of Disney fantasy," the Fantasy Springs area will feature attractions inspired by popular Disney films "Frozen," "Tangled" and "Peter Pan," Oriental Land Co. <4661> said. The area will also house a new 475-room resort hotel.
"We want to make it a place that three generations (from grandparents to grandchildren) can enjoy," Oriental Land Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Toshio Kagami told reporters in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, where the theme park is located.
Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the new area on Tuesday.
Oriental Land plans to spend 250 billion yen on the largest expansion of Tokyo Disney Resort since the opening of Tokyo DisneySea in 2001.
