Mass Stabbing near Tokyo Leaves Child Dead, Others Injured

Kawasaki, Kanagawa Pref., May 28 (Jiji Press)--An elementary school girl died and at least 15 others got injured in a mass stabbing that occurred in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, Tuesday morning, police said.

Of the injured, a man in his 30s is in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest. Four to five others are believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The police captured a man who is suspected of committing the mass stabbing.

The man was sent to hospital after he cut his own neck. He was later confirmed dead.

At around 7:45 a.m. (10:45 p.m. Monday GMT), police received an emergency call reporting that several people have been stabbed near Noborito Station in the city, according to the Kanagawa prefectural police department.
