Honda N-Box Top-Selling Car in Japan for 21 Months in Row

Tokyo, June 6 (Jiji Press)--Honda Motor Co.'s <7267> N-Box minivehicle topped Japan's new car sales rankings for the 21st consecutive month in May, industry data showed Thursday.

Sales of the N-Box jumped 18.1 pct from a year before to 22,231 units.

Five other minivehicle models, with engine displacements of up to 660 cc, were on the top 10 list.

Of them, Suzuki Motor Corp.'s <7269> Spacia ranked second, with sales of 13,391 units, up 18.5 pct. Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> Dayz, which was fully revamped in March, rose from sixth to third, with sales of 11,883 units, up 39.1 pct.

Of the other three minivehicle models, all from Daihatsu Motor Co., the Tanto was fifth, with 10,993 units, up 14.8 pct, the Move sixth, with 9,345 units, down 2.1 pct, and the Mira eighth, with 7,957 units, up 12.5 pct.
