Los Angeles, June 10 (Jiji Press)--Square Enix Co. said Monday that it will release "Marvel's Avengers," an action-adventure game featuring a team of U.S. comic book superheroes, in Japan, Europe and the United States on May 15, 2020.

The new game, which the Japanese company produced with Marvel Entertainment LLC, a fully owned unit of The Walt Disney Co., was revealed at a new product release event the day before the opening of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, in Los Angeles.

Players can enjoy the game for years to come since its content will be updated online with new heroes and other factors added periodically at no extra cost, developers said.

Marvel's Avengers will run on Sony Corp.'s <6758> PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox One consoles as well as personal computers equipped with Microsoft's Windows operating system. In addition, it will be distributed through Google LLC's Stadia cloud-based gaming service once the service begins in Japan.

At the event, Square Enix also showed a cinematic trailer of "Final Fantasy VII Remake," set to be released on March 3 next year.
